Gold mining is not being marketed in a bid to contribute to the country in the southwestern Omo Zone of the South West Ethiopian People's Regional State.
Head of the Regional Water, Minerals and Energy Bureau, Eng.
Director of the Traditional Minerals Production Support Directorate at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Jiksa Kidane, highlighted the problems in Bero Woreda, where gold is produced in the state.
He said illegal trade, the use of up-to-date production equipment, and the failure of suppliers to supply gold to the National Bank were among the problems.
He further said that the problems in Bero Woreda and other areas in the region will be resolved with the help of stakeholders.
