Ethiopia will continue to strengthen its economic cooperation by resolving the region's peace and security crisis, said Ambassador Fisseha Shaul, Director General of Neighboring Countries and IGAD Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Fisseha Shaul said the peace agreement signed with Eritrea three years ago is of great value.

During his meeting with ENA, the Ambassador said the current situation in Ethiopia could have been worse had it not been for peace with Eritrea.

He said Ethiopia's relations with Djibouti have continued economically, people-to-people and strong leadership.

He said Ethiopia has made significant contributions to the continuation of Somalia as a country, adding that bilateral cooperation will be strengthened.

He said there are good political and security ties with Kenya and strong economic ties.

He said the Lamu port, Moyale and a corridor corridor have been opened and that they are working to establish a free trade zone.

"Ethiopia has strong ties with its neighbor South Sudan," Fisseha said, adding that Ethiopia is working hard to implement the country's 2018 peace agreement.

He also said that they are working together to curb the activities of anti-peace forces in neighboring areas.

He noted that the situation in Sudan was different and that there had been a "significant trend" for the Sudanese government to address the issue.

He said Ethiopia will always prioritize dialogue to find a lasting solution to the problems created to maintain good neighborly relations.

Ambassador Fisseha said the East African region has been plagued by disturbances, which is a challenge to economic cooperation and common prosperity.

He also stressed the need to strengthen economic projects that connect Ethiopia and its neighbors by providing political and diplomatic solutions to the problems of peace and security.
