A third round of national volunteer youths said they will fulfill their responsibility to strengthen nationalism and lasting peace along with their efforts to alleviate social and economic problems.

The third round of national volunteer youths deployed by the Ministry of Peace today discussed with the Dire Dawa administration the activities to be carried out in the next 10 months.

Speaking at the forum, the young university graduates from various parts of Ethiopia said they are committed to play their part in ensuring lasting peace and development in Ethiopia.

Negash Boku, a young man from Sidama, said we, the youth from all over the country, are striving to strengthen our national unity by strengthening and supporting each other.

For her part, Merga said she will work to apply the values ​​of love, tolerance and support from the Dire Dawa nation to lasting peace and cooperation in the country.

During our stay in Dire Dawa, Muktar Ahmed said, "In addition to knowing each other's culture, language, history, values ​​and creating strong ties, we are ready to fulfill our responsibilities with our knowledge and energy to alleviate the social problems in the city."

He thanked the young people for their warm welcome. He said that in addition to building, repairing and cleaning the homes of the elderly, they are also ready to carry out tree planting and care.

"Given the current transformation of our country, what is needed from the youth in this day and age is knowledge, skills and hard work to ensure the country's growth, peace and development," he said.

Dire Dawa National Volunteer Coordinator at the Ministry of Peace, Bruk Mekonnen, recalled that 98 young volunteers from Dire Dawa participated in the first round of peace and development worth 12 million birr.

He said the national volunteerism has helped to develop a mindset that believes in dialogue and always stands guard for national development and peace.

Dire Dawa Administration Justice, Security and Legal Affairs Peacebuilding Director, Ibsa Ame, said the volunteer youths have carried out various development activities in the past.

He said that those who are in the second round and those who are currently in the third round will be better off working together.

Head of the Dire Dawa Administration Mayor's Office, Gebeyehu Tilahun, assured that the administration will provide the necessary support to the youths to have a successful and effective career.
